Today I used a nail art kit I got from Kmart awhile ago (probably over a year... I'm trying to stop hoarding my nail art stuff and just use it! Does anyone else have that problem?)
This is the Acamedy of Color Apple Gloss kit. It comes with a green apple-scented polish and some apple "nail chips" - pretty cute.
The polish is indeed apple scented. It's still lingering even once dry and is a little annoying, but I don't like scented things in general so YMMV. It does smell reasonably well like apples. It dried to a satin matte finish and I used two coats - easy enough. I then used a wax pencil (from Born Pretty Store) to pick up the apple chips, which was very easy. Here's the finished look!
However, I have quite curved nails, and the chips just don't sit right on my nails! Perhaps I should have curled the chips ahead of time. As it is, I'm glad I'm changing this mani tomorrow because I doubt it will last and it's a bit annoying to have them stick out. I'm a bit meh about the finished look.
Overall this kit is cute but I would recommend it more if your nails are flatter than mine. That said, it may have been discontinued now. If you do find it, I think it was around $4. So not bad value.
Finally, I was amused by the warning sign on the little vial of apple chips: "This is not food." Glad we cleared that up eh!
Hopefully I've got the InLinkz sorted now too. Blogging on my iPad is a little difficult sometimes; I'm not used to it.
Haha yeah I hoard my nail art packages rather than use them, I have a pile of them in the corner and just looking over at them now thinks I should give it a once over!!
ReplyDeleteWho does keep the 3D decals on?! I find them annoying too as they don't lay flat and they catch on everything!! You'll be going round the house picking the ones that have pinged off at the end of the day!!
Overall very cute mani even if it's just for day (or a couple of hours hehe)
Glad I'm not the only one! :)
DeleteOne of the decals broke overnight, so I'm glad it was a short term mani. But pretty easy to do at least and it is quite cute.
I see you've gone a little tutti fruity too! :D Such cute apples.
ReplyDeleteOMG that "this is not food" warning is hilarious!
Because we were all under the impression that these were real apple chips!? I think someone there has been inhaling too many polish fumes, and it's not the buyers...
Love a good fruit nail! :)
DeleteYes, imagine what terrible tragedies could have resulted without that warning?!
This was cute. The actual name of the "chips" is Fimos. They come precut like this or in canes. I much prefer the canes and cut out my own, they get way thinner and also "c-curved" by the cut with the knife. Which means that they can lay flat on the curved nail and last for days. And serious lol about the "this is not food". :D
ReplyDeleteI've seen the canes and I've wondered how easy the are to cut to size - it sounds like they are pretty easy? Having them curved to your nail would help a lot.
DeleteI just had to share it! I mean, what even.
Haha I think most of us nailfreaks do that sometimes... I have a bunch of decals lying around that I doubt I will ever get to use :P But love the fresh green color and cute small apples :D
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not the only one with a hoard! Thanks!
