Ciate chevron mani

For Christmas, Ciate put out a nail polish advent calendar. Every day you'd open a door and there would be a tiny (5ml/0.17fl. Oz) bottle of nail polish.

Can you imagine? Tiny nail polish! Christmas come early! Unfortunately, it was also a bit expensive for me, so I passed on it. But then, some months later, it popped up on Catch of the Day! ...which I realised after the deal had expired. But this story has a happy ending, because it came back as a Returned Deal, and it was third time lucky. (And on sale, at that.)

For this manicure, I used Hopscotch (orange) and Chinchilla (blue-grey) to create a chevron mani.

I had a difficult time with this manicure, probably due to the fact that I did it sitting riiiiight in front of the heater (Canberra's winter has arrived for real this time!) and the shorter brush, due to the shorter bottle. To be fair, the brush itself is normal sized, but the shorter handle was harder to use.

Anyway, it's definitely a rather messy mani, but the colours did go nicely together. A very editorial look.

What's In-Die box - June anniversary holograph nail polish - swatch and review

I've been keen to buy some new holographic polishes, and I've been keen to try the What's In-die Box? Aussie indie polish mystery box. So when June's theme was announced as a special all-holo theme, I signed myself up.

The box is a neat white cardboard affair, with the logo stuck on the front.

Open it up, and...

Enchanted Polish - The Youth

I love this polish! A pale green/light purple duochrome with stunning holo - so beautiful. I love holos but you only get the full glory of them in the sun or under strong light sources, so it's nice to have something else to enjoy in low light, such as the duochrome effect.

The green is stronger - particularly when taking photos.

Look at the holo! You can also see a bit of the duochrome in the difference between the index finger and the ring finger, although the purple is a bit stronger in person.

Femme Fatale - Gentlemen's Scuffle swatch

I'm totally in love with this polish: Gentlemen's Scuffle by Femme Fatale. The beautiful teal green! The scattered holo! The name! There's no doubt that this is now one of my favourite polishes.

Here are some swatches:

In artificial light.

Natural cloudy light - it started to rain as I took this picture, and you can see little raindrops on my nails!

In full sunshine. Look at that fiery holo!

More sunny holo. *_*

This polish is stunning and easy to apply. The first day I wore it, I got complimented on it by a cashier when I went shopping. What more is there to say?

If you want to get some for yourself, you can buy it online here at Femme Fatale's website.
